Although this specimen was found along the shelf edge (water depth less
than 300 ft.), this species has been found in waters as deep as 1000 ft.
Asteroporpa is in the order Phrynophiurida, together with basket stars.
All the other brittle stars in this collection are in the order Ophiurida.
