  • Small, somewhat slender and laterally compressed body
  • Large prominent dark spot at base of tail
  • Stripe from tip of snout through eye to base of tail, with lesser stripe on upper side from nape to end of dorsal fin.
  • Often found around reefs, in depths to 80 ft.
  • Feed on worms and small mollusks
  • Preyed upon by large predators
