What is your major? Marine Science (USC)
How did you become interested in this major or field? I have always liked being outside and being around any type of water. At first I wanted to study marine mammals but after reading articles about medicines that can be made from corals and discharge (slime) from marine organisms I think that I would like to research that area also, in addition to studying marine mammals.
Where do you see yourself five years from now? I will most likely be in graduate school. Then after graduate school I hope to get a job doing research either for a government agency or a private organization.
What part of the research on this trip has interested you the most? The pictures from the ROV and looking at the dredge samples because we found lots of interesting organisms. Some of which we kept alive in a tank on board the ship.
What part of the research has interested you the least? Taking core samples, just because sampling and labeling took such a long time. And almost getting knocked overboard by the CTD.
Did you get sea sick on this trip? No
