Fossil-rich biogenic sediments were collected by Project Oceanica on each of two Islands in the Stream 2001 cruises. Photographs of the coarse rubble material and sand-size fraction material collected at the Charleston Bump are shown as an example of the material. These rocks provide the foundation for the hardground deep reef communities.

The sediment images are courtesy of Clark Alexander (Skidaway Institute of Oceanography).
