Cross-hatched Lucine (Divaricalla quadrisulcata)


SHELL LENGTH: Approximately 1 inch (2.54 cm)

A small clam that lives in silty or muddy sand bottoms, this bivalve has a glossy white shell ornamented with strong, crisscrossing, concentric and wavy V-shaped ridges. They grow up to about one inch and have a long worm-like foot that helps them burrow. They possess no incurrent siphon but they do have an excurrent siphon.
